Odetta grew up in Los Angeles. She studied music at City College in Los Angeles and gathered with the musical Finian's Rainbow
first experience with a touring theater. Her career as a folk singer began in San Francisco, 1953 she entered a nightclub in New York. The first album she recorded 1954th Harry Belafonte in 1959, she invited a television show. Their album Odetta Sings Folk Songs
was one of the best selling of 1963. In Germany, they came in 1968 when Waldeck Festival in the Hunsrück on.
1998, it should be for their political commitment of the War Resisters League Peace Award verliehen.Odetta at the swearing in of newly elected U.S. President Barack Obama 20th Occur in January 2009. She died on 2 December 2008.
